Rates & Fees

The Water, Gas and Light Commission reads meters and bills customers on a monthly basis. Our service area is divided into 20 billing cycles and meter routes. Each customer’s meter is read and billed approximately every 30 days.

  • Charge of $10.00 per MCF for all volumes of unauthorized overrun gas.
  • State sales tax shall be applied to gas charges.

Commercial Demand
The Billing Demand shall be based on the highest 30 minute kW measurement during the current month and the preceding eleven (11) months.
  • For the billing months of June through September, the kW Billing Demand shall be greater of (1) one hundred percent (100%) of the highest summer kW demand (including the current month) or (2) sixty-five percent (65%) of the highest kW demand occurring in any previous applicable winter month (October through May).
  • For the billing months of October through May, the kW Billing Demand shall be the greater of (1) one hundred percent (100%) of the highest kW demand occurring in any previous applicable summer month (June through September) or (2) sixty-five percent (65%) of the highest kW demand occurring in the current or any previous applicable winter month (October through May).
Church
  • The Billing Demand shall be based on the highest 30 minute kW measurement during the current month and the preceding eleven (11) months.

Sewer Rates

Residential
Inside City Limits: $8.15 plus $2.57 per 1,000 Gallons based upon average monthly consumption of water during January, February, March. For new residential customers with no consumption history during these months, $8.15 plus $2.57 per 1,000 Gallons for 6,000 Gallons per month.
 
Outside City Limits: $4.74 plus $2.57 per 1,000 Gallons based upon average monthly consumption of water during January, February, March. For new residential customers with no consumption history during these months, $4.74 plus $2.57 per 1,000 Gallons for 6,000 Gallons per month.

Commercial & Industrial
Not sampled:
$8.15 plus $2.57 per 1,000 Gallons of water used.
All Others:
$8.15 plus $0.33 per pound of BOD, plus $0.20 per pound of TSS, plus $1.39 per 1000 gallons used. Oil and grease charge will be $0.03 per pound over 100 mg/l.
Effluent Factor:
$1.39 x water consumption

Commercial Deposit

All Commercial Customers applying for services with WG&L are required to make a deposit or furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount to cover an estimated two (2) months utility cost.
 
Transfer to New Account
If a Commercial account is transferred to another address the deposit will be transferred.
 
Refund
  • Deposits on Commercial accounts will be refunded after two (2) years provided that the account has not been delinquent during the two (2) year period, and an excellent credit rating is maintained. The deposit will earn an annual rate of 2.5% interest.
  • If the account is closed before the two (2) years are up, the deposit plus the interest will be applied toward the final bill. Any credit balance will be returned by mail.

 
Residential Deposit

All Residential customers applying for services with the WG&L Commission are required to make a deposit to cover the utility services that are available at the new address.
 
The Deposit Amount Will Not Exceed $100.00
  • Water Service   $25.00
  • Gas Service      $50.00
  • Electric Service $75.00
Current Customer
  • A current customer with a deposit can transfer the deposit if moving to a new address. If the current deposit is less than the deposit required for services at the new address, additional deposit will be required.
  • A current customer with an excellent credit rating who has had WG&L services for a minimum of 2 years will not be required to make a deposit before transferring to a new address.
  • A current customer who has had WG&L services for less than 2 years will be required to make a deposit before transferring to a new address.
  • A current customer with less than an excellent credit rating will be required to make a deposit before transferring or acquiring new services.
Refund
  • The customer deposit will be refunded after 2 years if the account has not been delinquent during the 2 year period and an excellent credit rating has been maintained.
  • If the customer no longer requires WG&L services, the account will be final and the deposit will be applied to any balance due. Any credit balance will be returned to the customer by mail.
